Luftwaffe Collar tabs

Article about: Hi Forum It is not much, but I would like to know why these 2 collar tabs are diffrent, for different uniforms ? I think the "massive" one is aluminium and the other Zink Aluminum

    Hi Forum
    It is not much, but I would like to know why these 2 collar tabs are diffrent, for different uniforms ? I think the "massive" one is aluminium and the other Zink

    Aluminum was discontinued for use on badges, rankinsignia etc due to scarcity and it being needed for Aircraft and armamentindustries production, therefore these items were switched over to zinc

    As Bob said. The later ones had edge tabs for cheaper, faster production.
