    Default Mountain Troops Oberleutnant tunic

    Hi all,

This tunic just popped up with one of the local militaria dealers here in Melbourne, (EK Militaria), and it sure looks like a nice unfiddled with
tunic to me. Tunic does have a tailors label inside the collar, sorry I didn't get any interior photos, but thought I would share the photos with
the forum. The 98th Gebirgs. Regt was a part of the 1st Gebirgs Division, and I think it was this regiment that was implicated in the shooting
of Italian soldiers that surrendered on one of the islands later in the war, and was the theme behind the Nicolas Cage movie 'Captain Correlli's
    Mandolin'

    Cephalonia/Cefalonia/Kefalonia
German Regiments involved in the slaughter of Italians in Cephalonia….

    ________________________________________
The executions are described in the diary of Alfred Richter, a corporal in a German Alpine regiment, who stumbled on their bodies.
"All bear the signs of a shot to the head, so they were killed by the 98th [Regiment] after they had surrendered." he wrote.

    BBC News - World ... 243615.stm

    German units
a complete list of German land units fighting at Cefalonia should be:

    966th Fortress Regiment (909th and 910th Battalion)
    III/98th Gebirgsjager battalion
    III/79th Mountain artillery battalion
    a battery of II/79th
    I/724th Jager battalion
    54th Gebirgsjager battalion
a battery of 201st Stug Battalion

Yeah Garry's prices can be a bit silly, but he is always willing to negotiate, I have never paid him a ticket price yet, to quote from the movie
    "Life Of Brian", 'gotta haggle'

I think he has it marked at 2250 (Aust), but I reckon he would take around 16 or 17 for it if that was waved under his nose....
