Dorn, killed in last weeks of the war, Sadly an interesting part of WW2 history , He and two other U-Boats led into a (supposedly cleared) minefield . British Intelligence working!!

    OBkrieger,

My Father and Grandfather simply took off the insignia and wore them as clothes, there was no other alternative

    Hi Gary,

The 2nd Model Dagger was purchased for my Father by his older brother who was an Officer in the Kreigsmarine.,, Dad was an Officer Cadet and was apparently entitled to its wear. His brother bought it for him as a "private purchase" so to speak.

Very nice of his brother to buy him a nice dagger . Know if I could only get my brother to buy me one.

    Hi Dean,

Thats excellent. I can't do it tonight but I will try and post some of Dad's photos - ground fighting Hamburg March/April 1945. Most of them were all carrying huge shovels.

    Regards, Grant.
