Wow, this seems like such an old thread. THANK YOU !!!!!! my Father was a very good , kind man and Dad. I'm sorry but if you were serious the old turntable has been retired to the garage.

Sorry for opening this again but I have been asking my Mother for Dad's photo Albums. Mum told me she will look for them but went on to tell me some of the things Dad had told her. Dad was apparrently extremely ashamed of being taken prisoner, during the street fighting , and in the final days his CO had "ordered all the youngsters to make their way to the rear and their families". They used the sewers , Dad served with his cousin , Dad's cousin and the elder and armed amongst them exited thru a manhole only to be killed by friendly fire or executed for desertion. Scottish and Canadian troops dropped grenades, barbed wire entanglements, flame throwers and ignited gas, very few survived. Dad was captured exiting a manhole by either Canadian or Scottish troops, (he wasn't sure because he was terrified) who were extremely angry at his youth, wearing coveralls and a luftwaffe belt; which explains now how he still maintained his fliegerbluse and awards - he wasn't wearing them at the time. Dad was told that they were shooting Hitler Youth because of sniping so they would have to escort him thru the lines to guarantee his safety. Dad remembered that his belt was stripped and that by the scruff of the neck he was frog-marched and repeatedly kicked up the arse - to me not a bad outcome.It really amazes me when I consider the circumstances , that these acts are either unknown or not documented
