My meagre collection of Luftwaffe items
Having had a sort through some of my collection I took the opportunity to photograph some of my items. The below shows my very meagre collection of Luftwaffe items.
The dinner knife is a nice piece which was given to me. It is marked WESTERLAND 1939. Through the little research that I have done I found that there was a large Luftwaffe hospital there.
The cap badge came with a Eastern peoples breast eagle (shown in another post), is it original?

Re: My meagre collection of Luftwaffe items
Unfortunately my collection is vast and eclectic! If it's cheap or free I'll have it.

Re: My meagre collection of Luftwaffe items
The 'cap' eagle is from a tropenhelm and is sadly a fake, IMO.

Bond, I don't think you like me!! Ha, Ha! I think I'll stick to my Allied militaria. It's so much easier and straight forward!

Even allied items are faked these days! I really like the spoon and knive, I have some marked cutlery and always like to see it. I don't have any luft cutlery at this time, though I do have a luft bowl, which I really like.
I have never noticed seeing an L number on a cap/helmet badge before, I think it is just for medals and awards. Also, it looks to have an RZM mark, which would only be seen on political items, never on luftwaffe.

PS I don't know you well enough to dislike you!!!!

Re: My meagre collection of Luftwaffe items
Reminds me, I've got a Luftwaffe bowl somewhere.
The badge is marked L/12 and having had a closer look it does appear to have a RZM mark, although I can't quite make it out. As fakes go this appears to be quite a poor one!

Re: My meagre collection of Luftwaffe items
The first clue to it's being fake is the closed area between the arms of the swaz near the claw which should be open, same as the other arms, also the details are very soft and these always have the negative of the design showing on the reverse.
