    One of my pickers came over today. He had a bunch of ww2 Luft photos, many are of Italy and are dated with info on them..but there are some That I do not understand the insignia of.

    I do not collect German WW2 items, but I wanted to keep my picker happy.

    These first Uniforms have an odd Eagle, the tail is pointed downward
    Can anyone tell me why? Or am I just seeing things, these are large photos.
    I will post other odd Luft badges in another thread.

    The eagle is known as a "Droop-tail" - It's an early type.........

    The guys are right here:
    the "droop" tail is the first form:
    L.Dv.422, Abschnitt A: Anzugsordnung für die Luftwaffe from November 27, 1935;

    The tail gives not quite the correct stand. It should be slightly more downwards.
    It eventually could give a wrong impression.

    The other tail form is from L.Dv.422, Abschnitt A, Anzugsordnung für die Luftwaffe
    from April 1, 1937.

    Both images are as how they are shown in the above mentioned regulations!
    The eagles below are as they should be: 1935 and 1937 and later!

    With the typical homecoming Condor-uniform they did not wear the LW eagle,
    as far as I know. Members from the LG, wearing the LG cuffband with the regular
    Luftwaffe uniform, did wear the eagle-form as ordered.
