These are two coats listed for sale on a website:

Problem is, I can't decide whether to get the Heer coat or the leather 'Officer's' one. Which is a more desirable piece, do you all think? And is the leather coat all it seems?
    Thanks, Robbie

im wary of both actually the heer tabs are in very pristine condition especially as the tunic shows wear
the leather one unless specifically marked could have been used pre war and indeed post war these were prefered by a lot of people

I know what you mean; the dealer's a pretty good one, though, if it helps. I'll provide some more pictures for clarity's sake.

I like the leather one, though I have no idea if it's specifically a military coat or not!

Hi Robbie, the Heer greatcoat is an enlisted mans example with officers shoulder boards. Possibly a period upgrade but equally possibly not.

Leather greatcoats we have discussed several times in the past. Not crazy about this one. I much prefer to see military buttons, half belt, provision for a dagger hanger and shoulder boards. This might have loops for shoulder boards? Not sure if I see a loop or not?

    Cheers, Ade.

I realise they're a risky subject... if you think I should give this one a miss then I'm sure you know more than me! Here's another picture:

Having now seen the belt loops pass for sure.

Ah, well that's that then. And as for the Heer one; the seller states in the description that "The matching admin straps look to have been on the coat since day one". The thought is that the coat's original, though?

They don't look like admin straps to me from here.

    Cheers, Ade.
