Okay, what had me worried about these was the fact that someone had embroidered the green stripes to try make these Gebirgsjager tabs.
I decided to remove the cotton and this is what I found. Done to increase the value of the tabs or done period due to transfer?

Hi Tom, the basic tabs are original. Who knows on the embroidery? I would remove the rest of it.

I don't understand why anyone would go through that kind of trouble just to make a few dollars more. Maybe I'm just naive....
Persionaly I wouldn't remove it. That way you have a nice "variation", maybe even period made. The normal ones are a dime a dozen.

Hi Pieter, nothing surprises me anymore after collecting this stuff for so long. Collectors do some odd things.....

Personally I think the white waffenfarbe is just as nice as the green.

Hi Mike,
I don't think you will be able to find out. What I do know is that they would make a nice conversation piece. Like I said; the genuine infantry tabs are not that difficult to find. Of course it is up to you mate :-)
