    Default Possible German great coat

I have picked up a grey great coat from an army surplus shop but have lost a button. Perhaps identification of the coat will help me find a suitable replacement button/ button set.
It is grey, double-breasted with round, flat, silver-coloured buttons with many inverted dimples (the best way I can think of describing them).
There are six buttons over-all on the front with an extra one under the right-hand lapel for particular cold. The lining is creased and a a similar colour to the wool of the coat.
Perhaps you can suggest the origin and a place to get a replacement button or two, or possibly a suitable set of replacement buttons.

    Many thanks

    Ah, I see it now!
The buttons have a small plain border.

It sounds like what you have is an East German greatcoat from the NVA. You can get buttons at Gowen Militaria - America's Original East German Specialists.

The button I see in the photo is not East German. It looks like it could be WW2 German. Lets see the rest of the jacket.

if this works, here is an anterior view of it... The coat is worn by the devilishly handsome chap on the right-hand side :P
There is also a button-up half-belt on the rear, if that helps.

O hang on, it was established that the pictured button was not a match, hence the link to gowen militaria. Incidently, I spotted a match for 50p there so thanks for the tip
