Hi guys,
Here's a question I don't know who to ask.
As you may know, I collect Feuerwerker badges. Why did they use the red Waffenfarbe for artillery? Why not black for Pioniere? Wouldn't that make more sense?
Cheers,
Pieter

Feuerwerkers were originally artillery specialists rather than demolition and this dates back to the early 15th century and then continued with the formation of the standing armies of the German states in the 17th & 18th century and were part of the artillery. Obviously some old traditions were kept, even during the TR period.

Whatever its just an opinion.
That makes sense Jerry, many thanks for replying.

As we're on this topic, does anyone know much about the badges on my Waffenrock? Bond, I know you told me some stuff about them on the original thread but I wanted to gather as much info as I could!
Now that is one great uniform! Would look great in my collection
Cheers,
Pieter
That's no problem Pieter, I'll swap it for an SS tunic
