Is this a real WW2 German Badge?

I bought a large pile of Military items this weekend, including a couple of boxes of WW2 and Post WW2 Canadian cloth.
This was the only "German" badge in the lot, is this real"

The backing seems pre WWII which I have seen on a few examples.

If the braid is silver and the patch is black it is Panzer.

Indeed, SS if your selling, Panzer if your buying. More likely to be Panzer, though for no good reason, but it could be either and probably impossible to tell.

Of course, I would not be so presumptious as to claim 'SS' when Panzer is far more likely I would think.
