It looks like a really fine coat, I have no say whether it is authentic WW2 or not, but it seems to be very well made.
I've seen many of these on ebay and every time I want to buy one...

Sorry but neither of these are military leather overcoats. These are just postwar leather coats. These were worn well into the 1960' and sometimes beyond in Europe.

Wartime private purchase coats will feature provision for rank shoulder straps, sometimes dagger hangers etc and usually military buttons.

    Cheers, Ade.

Heres a Heer General Officer Brown leather coat - the Heer officers were authorized either a gray or brown leather overcoat. Most started out as gray but were then textured based on the officers requirements.Note dagger slit, buttons,no outer belt only on the rear etc.

Hi Horst, very nice example, in wonderful condition. I guess most period photographs were in black and white, so I didn't realize they were authorized to wear brown leather. You sure can't say the TR didn't have dapper uniforms. I'm still the "young grasshopper" as they say in China when it comes to uniforms. Thanks for showing us.

Jay - Ive been at it for 40+ years and am still learning - you cant know it all and it also depends which direction your hobby interest is in i.e. medals, uniforms, visors, weapons, field gear etc you get the drift - I would say that its very hard if not impossible to find one person who is an expert in the complete area of Militaria, German,US,Russian etc - If there is I want him as my friend
