Shoulder boards info
Anyone have a good link to different time period, maker, etc for German shoulder boards?
I have been rooting around looking for information, and am coming up dry.
I have information on what units, branch of service...but nothing on construction, materials, styles...etc.
...and good titles for a reference book?
thanks cats

Re: Shoulder boards info
There is no book on this subject alone.
Shoulder straps and boards used to be a farily safe item to collect when I started out collecting 34 years ago. But things are very different now! Fakers have got very, very good at copying these, often out of original material cut from greatcoats etc. They are of course fairly simple items to produce. In fact, without good clear pictures I no longer comment on these on the forum. Some I just like to have in hand before giving an opinion. Real care has to be taken on any Waffen SS or Heer Panzer straps. Even the once common Heer Infantry straps are much faked due to the high demand. Slip on style straps are the most commonly faked. Sew in styles for the Waffenrock etc are less popular with collectors and so are a bit safer to collect.
The forum is the best place to study straps.
Cheers, Ade.
