As Ade has said, the empty stitch marks and such are remnants from older jackets and offcuts. The stitch marks are there from the seams of other jackets/offcuts and from where pockets would have been on the pieces of recycled material that were used to manufacture this piece (later war practice).

If anybody has some more information for me about these jackets or mine specifically I'm always happy to learn more

The classic German wool torque would be an item I would add for sure Josh.
Iconic piece of German winter kit.
Thanks mate, I think you're right about that! The thought definately crossed my mind so I'll have to pick one up in the near future!

It's hard to choose wether to display the white side or the splinter side!!

Thanks all, I'm very pleased with it.. Keep your eyes peeled as I will be starting a winter combat mannequin/torso using this jacket.. I need suggestions on what pieces to add first!

    All the best,

    Josh
the first piece i would add is a sturmgewehr like the fellow in this photo but that would be almost impossible, maybe a belt with some ammo pouches

HAHAH.. We think alike mate.. One of those would fit perfectly I agree, but unfortunately not in this lifetime A K98 is do-able though so perhaps come June I will have one of those to hang over his shoulder!

The elbow patches were modifications on the 43 version of the Winterjacke !!

    Thanks Paul,

So can you see any atypical aspects to the sleeves? One collector told me they had been modified.. Perhaps he just meant the M43 version?
