Hello, I was curious if anyone could tell me in their opinion on what they think about this tunic, it has passed the black light tests as well. To me my only concern is the collar but it also looks like period work IMO. But I;m no expert...any help is greatly appreciated

    Hello,

It looks like a very nice tunic but it has been embellished to me. I believe that it was an infantry tunic to start life. The shoulder boards have been poorly sewn in and they do not match the white infantry collar tabs. I believe the GBJ patch on the sleeve was also put on, most likely the same time the boards were put in. The rest of the tunic looks solid and nice.

The tailor was in Silesia according to the label. I think it is a privately tailored uniform that has non-matching shoulder boards as Fred ponted out. Either that or the collar was added later to replace one that was damaged and it had non matching Litzen. Hard to say at this point. If the price is right it would be a nice pick-up. Afterwards, you might consider what, if any, restoration might be done. NH
