    Default Tropical Luft Tunic ID

    Guys,

Need a bit of help here for a friend of mine. He has the opportunity to pick this up. Any help with authenticity, the stampings, boards, make, type etc.?

He was told that it is an Italian made Luft tunic.

** Note: He knows the Heer eagle is wrong.

This is not my area so looking for the generous support of my fellow members.

Any and all info would be great!

    Thanks again!

    Michael

No problem. That si part of the responsibilities here to see things get posted in a forum where you will have the best chance of getting good replies. This is not my field of expertise but I do not like anything about this tunic as far as being WW2 period.

Thanks Bob. That's why my friend reached out to me for help. He knows that this is the place to go. Hopefully others will be along as well

All I can say is that it is not a German made tunic.

Yes Ade, I'm told it was italian made. And Dan, I'm trying to find out what's on the other sleeve as well.

At this point he is not concerned with the insignia, just the jacket and if, even if Italian made, a legitimate pieces.

    Thanks guys.

Anyone else see one of these? Or should he walk away?

    Hello,

By the stampings it appears to be French to me. I would check with a French Army collector. The boards appear to be homemade to me. The drivers badge and other sleeve insignia look real, just on the wrong sleeves. The ribbon bar looks good from here. I am unsure about the eagle but would not write it off just yet. The tress on the collar doesn't match the rank of the boards and there are no collar tabs. The tunic itself looks like some sort of issue piece but by whom I do not know.
