The breast eagle is sewn over the pocket flap, is this not odd?

No it's quite common to a degree i will call it "standard application"

Question: Would a Gefreiter Chevron go with these epaulettes?

I think it looks to have been restored and probably had a gefreiter chevron originally. I would want to see better close up pics of the insignia application to be certain. you are correct that it is normal for Heer tropical tunics to have the eagle over the pocket flap though this looks to have been replaced along with the collar tress. As stated in another thread, I think this would be better described as a 2nd pattern tropical tunic, not a M42 IMHO.

    Whatever its just an opinion.

Thank you Jerry. As you know i much appreciate your info Do you think the collar tress looks to "fresh"? If so i can see what you mean. There is a good possibility that it's restored IMO. It have most likely been stripped of all insignia at some point. It does make sense only to remove the Chevron. I will wait more pics. Do you have an idea for a fair price, restored and not restored Just in the rough.

I agree about the tress looking too fresh and the same for the eagle IMO and both as far as it is possible to see from the pics look to have been applied with the same thread/stitching.

I'm sorry, but I'm not up on prices Lars.

    Hello,
beside what has been said so far concerning this second pattern Tropenbluse, i would like to say three things :

Glenn66 : on Tropenblusen, the Hoheitsabzeichen is sewn over the pocket flap because the tunic is worn with open collar. If it was sewn above the flap, a part of it would partially covered by the Tropenbluse lapels...which was inconcevable...

The Jäger arm insignia seems to be embroidered, so it was meant to be worn on privately purchased tunics only, not on issued ones...in theory, only the BeVo arm insignia should be sewn on the sleeve of this Tropenbluse.

I'm not saying that these insignia are period applied of course, but just one observation : an Obergefreiter promoted to Unteroffizier rank had to unstitch his arm chevrons....which didn't leave almost any trace on a wooden Feldbluse...but on a Tropenbluse ?......
    Thanks

The arm badge is a Jager ( rifle division ) arm badge .
