    Hello All,
I have just received these two KM Artillery breast eagles.
I have a good feeling about them both but what an ugly looking pair of birds.
Any opinions good or bad would be appreciated.

    Hi Doug,

I cant say much about the first eagle but I dont have a good feeling about the Bevo eagle. My first issue is the lack of twist in the thread and the second is with the 5 inner feathers on the wing and the flaw up at the top one, which is the small dot. Someone might know more than I and know of a variant that matches but at the moment I would say its a reproduction.

    Thanks for showing
    Jason

Thank you for your input Jason.
I am quite happy with the BeVo eagle. It is the example that is normally found on the French made Coastal Artillery tunics.
A good pointer in my opinion is the odd sized legs:

    Hello,

In my opinion both eagles are original.

The top eagle is an embroidered enlistedmans private purchase breast eagle. I have 2 examples of this eagle in Heer colors and have seen a nice late war variation on a cheese cloth backing.

The BeVo weave eagle, while ugly as sin, is an enlistedmans breast eagle also. This eagle is attributed to being of foreign manufacture. So far a period picture of this style of eagle being worn has not surfaced. The construction method are the same as wartime pieces. This style of eagle is not totally accepted across the collecting community. I am glad to see it in a used configuration.

    Hello Fred,
here is another example of a tunic removed breast eagle.
I think these were more readily available to the British Vets who cleared up the Channel coast in '45

I don't have a reverse shot it isn't mine but there are lots of pictures out there on the WWW of the eagle in wear.

    All the best
    Doug

    Hello Saladin,

I have yet to see any photos of this specific eagle in wear. Could you please post one? I would love to see one. I have seen an eagle on on a piece of HBT attributed as being a costal artillery tunic cutoff.

    Hello,

Here is a shot of the top style eagle manufactured in a very late war style embroidered in cheese cloth. It is machine sewn to the tunic.

    Hello Saladin,

I am looking for a period picture taken between 1939-1945. I see these modern pictures all the time but I have yet to see a period picture.
