which "type" of buckle to use with heer ammo pouch (NO picture shown)?

as seen on page 63 in "uniforms and traditions of the german army 1933-1945, vol.3".
there is a picture of an enlisted person wearing one k98 ammo pouch and one d-ring.
to me it seems that the buckle he is wearing is aluminium (silver washed?)
isn`t the silver buckle to be used for dress wear?
did the heer medics use the field grey buckle?
can anyone show me a dress belt with a dress buckle?
one more unrelated question.
when the m1935 map case was used on the belt, did they also use ammo puch on the other side of the belt or pistol hylster?
