Agreed, I have what looks like a field made zeltbahn jacket, and I'm still not sure whether I think it's period or not. That's the risk that you run. Is there provenance at all? I have to say though, that I kinda like the one that you are showing, based on how messed/used up it is. Here's mine for comparison:

Thanx for the tip believe it or not I actually found this in South America as to cost that would be the only way I would add it to my collection if I can get it for real cheap I dont think there is any way to prove an item like this as truly real blacklight, burntest on thread and material even if that all checks out and its a real Zeltban and the buttons are good I will never be a 100% shur but it will make a hell of a conversation piece.

Exactly, only serious collectors would know about the authenticity.

The problem with items made from Zeltbahns is they are very difficult to say they are period made , this is known to be a practice amonst our faking ememies !!

My personal suggestion,Do not buy it.
    1、The original fabric from tent.
    2、Bad workmanship
3、Germans in that period won't design a pocket on the sleeve.Looks like a modern army combat uniform(ACU)
