    Default WH INF Officers Tunic

    Hello Gents,

What is your opinions on this tunic? I am working on a Infantry Officers mannequin and have a few tunics in my sights. This is one of them. Would such a tunic have been worn in the field? Any info on it will be much appreciated This is all i have of pics for now. You might have to use a "zoom" function of some kind.

    Regards, Lars

Of course the pic loader is making trouble... you will have to click...

I really need help with this tunic as it may or may not be the start of a WH Officers display. I think i makes sense to build it around the tunic.

I think it stands a chance, the blue backing on the eagle and the blue collar are not something I've seen before though. The tunic itself looks ok to me though.

Thank you doomtown I have not seen this blue color either. I wonder if it could be "medic" related.

Could it be chaplains but with replacement bits? here's my officers collar tab in the chaplains colour?

    Lars,
I don't think that you are too far away with the "medic" theory as blue backing was used by the Heer Beamter ranks like officials' who held a rank but who were not regular military personnel to distinguish them from their more combatent colleagues.
As the tunic appears to be made of Italian gaberdine, it could be that it is late war made and that they used whatever they had to available.
If the insignia has not been reapplied then obviously would be correct but you would need better pictures or the tunic in hand to determine if it has been altered.
I actually like the tunic as the very first crusher cap that I ever had had a similar blue band but was also piped in white and as I was given this as a gift for free, I know that it was original.

    Rene,
I do not think those are chaplains unless my monitor colour is off.

Wasn't the waffenfarbe for chaplains purple or violet??

Thank you both I remembered reading something about medics and also chaplains for that matter having "blueish" waffenfarbe. Truppensonderdienst also used a blue color, but only from 1944 and on. I think i will have to look for another tunic since i am looking to piece together a combat officer display. It will probably be hard to find a cap with the right piping i guess?

You are right it's supposed to be violet, sorry, I rarely play with this one! and have never seen it in direct sun light until now
