What does this patch represent?

This is the last thing in my grandfather-in-law's collection. I can't tell you all how appreciative I am for the assistance provided. I've learned quite a bit and now that I have the names and history of some of these items, I've found all sorts of references for continued learning. Much appreciated!

I'll definitely be hanging around as there is so much to learn. Though I doubt I'll ever expand on what I have, it's great to know what I do have.

I was wondering if anyone had details on what this was for?
