I found a leather overcoat today in a warehouse! The owner said it was bought in Italy some 30 years ago as a German overcoat from ww2 era. What do you think?

Im not sure about this coat, there is a patent on the clasp which i dont think Germany had as such, can you give the name of the maker on the clasp, it doesnt show very well on the pics
it says "Gutos patern" i think...
I cannot see any evidence of shoulder rank insignia or a slit for a dagger/sword hanger? What is the internal strap for?
So not wartime in my opinion if these features are missing.
Cheers, Ade.
hi , the maker gutos made belts in austria , circa 1970s. dont know if thay produced leather garments ,but the time frame tends to fit. i dont belive this coat is a ww2 product.....cheers paul
An old thread i know, but it came up through a search i did.
This coat is a civilian one but i am not sure of which era. Note the cuffs, leather belt, buttons and lining which indicate is not a German, WWII military coat.
