My main concern is the grip

Did the dagger come with a scabbard? I am no dagger expert but I will tell you that you need to take good, clear pics of the dagger (put together) in natural daylight so the details become more apparent, so the guys can provide some assistance in regards to authenticity.

At first glance, the dark finish on the dagger seems to be consistent with many other late war manufactured WKC daggers (including one I used to own). As for the grip, I have never seen one with a seam like that. These of course are just my observations and am open to other opinions from more experienced dagger collectors, as my main area of collecting is headgear.

If better pictures are needed of any part of the dagger, please just ask and I will try to post them.
Hello W2MCollector.. i have been watching your thread..and have to thank you for all the possible photos you have taken, which will help greatly with our Heer collectors to give you the best answers to your questions.
The grip should not have an extreme seam line which is highly uncommon even for the late production daggers. The fittings are authentic..and will leave the blade and the chiseled down tang to the more experienced. Im not too comfortable with the rainbow due to the heat used while forging the tang.
check out this link below..that is pinned at the top of this forum.
