Article about: Hi Guys, I have been offered this Gustav Spitzer heer dagger & want to make sure all is ok & its not a parts dagger, any help is appreciated, i believe this one has the Generic Type

    I have been offered this Gustav Spitzer heer dagger & want to make sure all is ok & its not a parts dagger, any help is appreciated, i believe this one has the Generic Type A crossguard.

    Mac, Looks very correct for a later Spitzer. You are right this is a Generic "A" guard, I like the scabbard type too.. often seen with this double screw scabbard with hand worked bands. Kevin.

    Many thanks for your valued opinion

    Its good to know all parts correct right down to the 2 scabbard screws for the maker !

    puts my mind at rest now so i will proceed with the purchase

    That's a fine looking Heer dagger Scott.

    glad Kevin analysed this one course im not into the generic ones, so i cant be of any help.
    Im crazy about the early types, especially the Slant grip types

    Its was an offer i could not refuse

    Also there is no damage on the dagger & i was told the maker G.Spitzer is not so easy to find on an army dagger , i bet it looks a lot better in hand next week when it arrives with me,


    Early army daggers with slant grips are very nice quality made pieces, i like them as well now these days

    Immaculate grip and crossgrain blade to top it. The detailing to the eagle on the guard and the sheath fittings make this one excellent Spitzer. No red flags flying on this beauty.
