The dagger is original, generic type B, but the scabbard (WKC) is inaccurate for this type of dagger. (It shul be also generic type B.)
With these, dagger was almost destroyed, by hard cleaning.

Vedran i tend to type this crossguard to a Wingen 2nd type.
    Would you take another look?
Although the differences between Generic B, Herder and Wingen 2nd are marginal, it looks a Wingen to me.
Its even more difficult because almost all details have been lost by polishing.
I would certainly not buy this dagger.

Ger, maybe, but Anton Wingen Solingen Herr dagger have usually white handle, and heavy silver plating, which does not take a black patina, during time.
These dagger has a orange grip, and some areas with black patina.
But I agree, difficult to tell truth, due to a lack of detail.

    Hi Guys!

Wow, I didnt see this coming. When i first saw this dagger i thought to myself "poorly made fake".
I am pretty sure I've come across this dagger once before, a few month back. That time I saw it in person and got to feel it.
It felt loose and wobbly. The blade had no markings except a faint S mark on the tang.

If it's the real deal, why polish it this violently, making it loose all the Beautiful details!?

Either way, i learnt my lesson. "Never judge a book by it's cover".

And sorry Larry for posting it in the wrong section, as i thought it was a fake.

    Cheers,
    Jonas

Jonas, dagger is actually a bit similar to reproduction.
Unfortunately, black patina is some people still ugly. (Sad.)

    Hi Vedran.

Thanks for posting picture to compare.

I agree with you when saying it is sad that people decide to, in my opinion, destroy items by doing this.

    Best regards,
    Jonas
