Is the portpee heer, this came with a luft dagger so may have come off that. What does the gold banding on it signify?

I would guess this is worth about £300?

The dagger looks good. The knot is not from a Luftwaffe dagger as these are shorter in length at 23cm. However, the knot should be all silver. I don't know if this has oxisidised and altered in tone?

    Price is OK.

    Cheers, Ade.

No its not oxidisation its a proper gold coloured thread woven into the fabric of the knot, the subject of portpees and their arm of service colours and branches seems a liftimes work in its own right. Being a recruit and saluting the wrong person for the wrong reasons must have been a nightmare. I couldn't even grasp RAF ranks when i was in the army and must have saluted erks on several occasions.
In general terms which maker is more desirable/ common, your top 10?

    Horster is a common maker.

The knot I am at a loss to explain.

    Cheers, Ade.
