How to clean the blade

Hello.

I'm new to this forum.

Lately I have been reading a lot about preservation/ restoration on daggers and helmets etc.
I understand this a very debated subject and people differ a lot in their opinions.

Anyway, I was wondering what people think about cleaning up a blade like this and how you would do it?

The picture is from another forum I've been following. I just wanted to see if you guys have additional opinions on the matter.
