german ww2 airforce i think..
Its a Third Reich period army officers dagger with the swastika snapped off. Is it your dagger?
I second Douglas, a WW2 german officers dress dagger that has for some reason been de-nazified by having the swastika removed from below the cross guard eagle.
Douglas and Robin are correct. Heeres Offiziersdolch.
I have moved your thread to the correct sub forum.

What a wonderful Army officer dagger complete with hanger and knot! And with very rare marker on the blade! Despite the fact this dagger has its swastica broken off, it is very nice dagger in very good condition! I like it.
...why did it have to happen to a Kolping?

Darn shame. Cuts value by an awful lot. Otherwise nice dagger.
Darn De-nazified daggers...
WOuld have been an excellent. If you are driven you can buy another crossguard and replace the denazified version, therefore making it a better example.
