    Patina on the steel (chipped area on the decal) matches with the other chipped areas. But am no expert on paint either but I think it may be good. Too bad the liner is roached

    Looks like period insignia from what is visible in the photos.

    Appears to have the white stripes painted over chips? Perhaps it has been retouched at some stage. A nice lid though.

    Looks good to me and I have seen many WW1 American lids, many good but some faked.

    Just my thoughts
