American or British Lid?

I hate using cell phone pics, but it's all I have. A friend spotted this at an upcoming estate auction. I'm not up on my "dough boy" style helmets, so is this American or British? I have not seen that liner before. I'd like to go for it, but what's one like this go for on the market? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, as always!

Strange liner. I believe it is U.S. pre-war or early WWII,
judging by the straps. $100 - $150.........?

I also thought it resembled those used very early in the war, on Wake Island, etc, before the use of the M1 helmet began. Definitely has some rough textured paint.

So a Kelly helmet. Has the distinctive large nut on the top of the dome.

These helmets have chin straps very similar to the ones on US M1 lids.

For one reason or another, these helmets are not very pricey... so unless you can get it for a price you're satisfied with, I'd say pass on it. With that being said, I got mine for a fist-full of dollar bills at a junk shop.
