Article about: Thank you! And sorry about the badge! Never can tell how fragile something really is until you have half in one hand, and half in the other, and a blank expression on your face.. - - Updated

This is a new one, somehow the leather strap that goes over the outside front part of the helmet got stuck behind the nape strap. The liner is already in very delicate shape with some broken straps so I don't want to make it worse, but how in the hell can I fix this? I'm assuming a previous owner of the soldier himself repaired it at some point and was just careless. Any way to fix it without damaging the liner or should I accept it and leave it be? It's a Westinghouse for anyone who's wondering.Anyone know how to fix this liner?

The leather chinstrap is on stud clips which will snap off - don't pull up,
but gently push towards the opening in the triangular part of
the clip. This will release one side the chinstrap.........

    Hello,

Unhook the liner chinstrap from one side, thread it back through and hook it back up. No big one there.

Well don't I look like a moron. Just goes to show we can all still learn something.

    If you don't ask.......

Sometimes you don't want to fiddle with things
    and end up breaking them.

Exactly, and in my time of collecting I can honestly say I've never had that happen before. And I really didn't want to make a liner, which I already had to rescue, in worse shape. Thank you guys for the help.

Put a tiny drop of oil on the studs and move the strap back and forth a few times then pop it loose.
    Wise idea to ask.

Well this looks much better. A million thanks. And go easy, I'm barely legal. all a learning experience for a young pup like me. But a solid four years rummaging through southern Illinois helps a little. Anyone know how to fix this liner?

I pulled the strap up once and the stud popped out from the liner shell, bringing some liner materiel with it. It was only a euroclone M1 but I still felt a bit of a plank....

Lol- Just last week I broke the pin off a nice '107' marked
black grade wound badge, so we're all capable of
    unintentionally destroying things.

    Great looking helmet, BTW.........!
    Regards,

    Steve.
