Good morning
I am french, my english is not perfect...
I possess a helmet that I have bought as australian because it has no rim arount the edge. I had not studied it more because of that
I have recently read that England has also made helmets without rim during the second WW, in 1941, for the Home Guard, by BMB
I have discovered that the liner of my helmet is BMB 1/1940 size 7
You can see with the photos, the screw, the liner, the chinstrap
Red stripes on the chinstrap, before the springs, on the both sides, above and under, and a rest of a little piece of paper taken in the seam
No letter or number on the chinstrap lug
The chinstrap is amagnetic
On the edge of the metal, beside the lug, I read, difficultly, "1941", "1" above and nearby nummers, perhaps "420", perhaps something other but impossible to read under the painting
Is it really a Home Guard helmet or an australian or other?
If it is a BMB, I am astonished that the carving in the metal is so bad, usually the BMB carving are very clear
And why a liner of 1940?
Thank you for your help
Georges
