Article about: Just thought Id show my British helmet which my father got me from London in the seventies. Are there anymore markings I should look for except for the ones in the pic. Is this a standard li

Yes, and well worn with that color. The matte paint on the top has been applied thinly but with a rather heavy brush. The helm is also black on the inside looks sprayed. Stamps OSS 1, 1939 and 50.
White E stamp on the inside over the paint.

No worries, the liner looks South African in style but they used a felt pad,where as yours looks leather or vinyl, not seen anything like this before....very interesting!!

nice looking lid, the liner is also dated 1939 and if i remember correctly helmets ltd is a british maker , rgds Dave

Its vinyl, has a very distinct smell to it too! What does the OSS 1 stamp mean? And the E?
