Gents my 41 dated G.S.W. Mk I arrived in the post yesterday and although I have shown images of a 1 variation of the Canadian two tone hear already I thought you gents might find these images interesting .
I carefully removed the net from the helmet to take a few more pics and it retained its shape (memory of the helmet ) IMO it has been on the helmet for some time as it has left a ghost of an image on the shell.

    Regards Mark K

I was just wondering why the British wartime 1 inch square knotted net seems so difficult to find, when this type seems to have been issued to the vast majority of US ETO personell?it can be seen being worn by most 101ST and 82ND Airborne during Overlord and yet I have never hardly seen any for sale,am I missing something or is there a rational answer?..............

Good question Jake, maybe the bloody yanks used them all up. But you are right they do seem to be at a bit of a premium.
I think collectors & new to collecting are probably not sure about them, the Dutch had a post war net very similar to it, plus there seem to be quite a few nylon nets that are the same type too. Or that they have not seen many wartime pics of them.

Unusually for the British we were well ahead of the US & Germans when it came to helmet nets. The US didn't have any, & the Germans was an complicated item to make & looked pretty crap.
Looks like this German saw the light & got himself an early issue woven net.
