If there are no markings on the shell, it will be very difficult to date. Not much changed with Mk2 Brodie helmets from their introduction to war's end.
If there were any markings, they would be on the inside of the brim, close to one of the chinstrap buckles. Depending on the paint used on the shell, they can be very hard to see.

EDIT: Production started on the Mk2 in 1940, and it was replaced by the MK3 'Turtle' helmet around the time of D-Day. So this is very likely a wartime shell, just impossible to nail down a specific year.

Helmet will be post March 1939, what paint is on the outside, textured khaki green? If any remaining, what paint is inside.

The narrow strap attachment points and the remainder of the strap if original to the helmet suggest late production. I will get the wire brush out.
