    Hello everyone,
I have between my British turtles even this Mk4, liner 1953 dated; it is black painted both inside and out.
I have heard various opinions on the use of this helmet, but I'm still not convinced, so my question is this:
what units and in what period were used this black MK4?
    Thank you in advance.

Black painted ones were used by the Police and Civil Defence in the 1950's and 1960's. Maybe even into the 1970's.

My pleasure. The net certainly does not belong to it and really should come off it.

    Ok Ade,
like you suggested, it should now be returned to its originally condition!

    Cheers
