Article about: Picked this up recently and was stated as being a North African campaign helmet. It's a Mk.2 1940 dated F & L shell with an unmarked liner. The inner shell is brown/green while thenouter

    Default British MKII helmet... North Africa? Europe?

    Picked this up recently and was stated as being a North African campaign helmet.

    It's a Mk.2 1940 dated F & L shell with an unmarked liner. The inner shell is brown/green while the outer shell is much lighter, and has had heavy sand applied. From where it came from I am assuming it was a vet being back.

    In some light the shell appears desert coloured and in other greener. The lining has dried out and is in a poor state. Never the less its a great looking helmet.

    Looks like a well-worn, but standard army MKII to me. No special connection to the desert, other than the fact that these standard army helmet were the most commonly used helmet in the desert.
