Its clearly not the defined Police decals you see, but it was pulled out of an australian shed, so whether it was used here regionally, i dont know

Hi, looking at it "expanded" you can see where the original Sergeants stripes were on the helmet. It seems to me that the original decals were probably very worn down or damaged so someone thought it a good idea to over paint them again. Leon.

The repaint seems to have age, I would be happy if the price was sensible.

It was literally a barn find..the owner said his father had worn it during the war (i know you can never go on a story)..i pointed out that it was a British helmet but he was adamant .. i believe it wasnt unusual for Australians to use British lids ..the paint is very aged and not in a deceptive or contrived manner

'seen hundreds...'got a few too...'never seen one like this ....in 30+ years. Is the suggestion that it's a WW2 Aussie-used Brit-made lid?...if so I'm not qualified to pass judgement as I know nowt about Oz Lids...but if it's supposed to be Brit-made AND Brit-used I'd say it's VERY rare....or.....????????

In the 1980's when i first joined the Police we still had a department called war Duties , their store rooms were full of WW2 Police /ARP etc helmets many of which had been repainted and redone for more modern use !!

I'd be happy with it, it was common for British helmets to be used by Aust,
I've a combat BMB with a Aust Dunlop liner
