Seems to possibly have the "ghost" of a net on it maybe...???

Well spotted Ned, the helmet did indeed come with an early woven net that I removed for the pics . The net looked to have been on for a good while as very faded on top compared to where it had been tucked under the rim. Net now back in place.

    My thoughts as well.

An interesting example and good to hear it did indeed have a net which has now been restored to it.

What are the maker & date stamps on it?
    Regards,

The condition on the inside is to poor to make out any markings .

I have sourced a crusty old liner and chin strap to add to my shell.

Very interesting Tommy helmet! I'm kind of thinking that the former owner did not enjoy post-war retirement. It must have an amazing history to it, but, unfortunately, one that is only known to it's 1st owner...
