British WWII Helmet ID?

Article about: Not quite right, 76 th. Div was a training div. and service men from various corps and units would have served in it to train the troops before they were sent to various divs. etc. The 76 sh

    Default British WWII Helmet ID?

    Hello Guys,

    Can any one help me ID this helmet?

    I think the 1940 stamped on the inside means it was made in 1940

    The Name panited in the helmet is Lieut D.A. Lloyd.

    It has what I think is a Royal Artillery insignia on the side.

    It also has a black square with a red boat on the front

    The liner says it was made by Herbert & Johnson, New Bond Street LONDON

    Well, it seems to me like you don't need any identifying

    Very true, you have all the necessary details to hand but you are asking for help with this, therefore could you supply a lot clearer and larger photos of all the points you mention, noone can give their opinion on the pics supplied.

    The red ship on black background is for the 76th. Div. A war raised unit allotted a training role and the ship is a red Norfolk wherry linking the div. to East Anglia. John.

    So its from the 76th division of the Royal Artillery that was raised in WWII for training, and the Red Norfolk Wherry links the division to the east anglia Regiment?

    You have got it. Worn by an Officer of the RA and part of the 76th Div.

    I found it in my Grandads house, My next step is to find out how he got it and who

    Lieut D.A. Lloyd is.

    Very nice helmet and provenance, it shouldnt be too hard to trace this person provided the records are still available, but im not sure if they will release any info to non relatives, it would be nice if you could find out
