    hello i am a new member in this group. my interest is mostly ww2 and ww1, i have a small collection of German and British stuff from ww2 and some other bits and pieces from other countries and time periods. i got this helmet some years ago as far as i know the shell is South African and the liner is British from ww2. can someone please confirm that i am right.

    South African shell. Looks like a Brit liner. Liner retention screw/bolt is just plain wrong.

    the screw/bolt is a replacement the man i got it from used to hold it togehter because he lost the original one

    S.A shell, which has been refurbished/repainted post war,Brit' liner.

    it is hard to see on the picture but the date is 1940

    The colour of this SA MK2 remembers me to my MK4 or MK2 Late War examples(same Brown texture finish)
    Have the late examples of the UDF not later liners inside?

    Phillips head screw though???

    Phillips screws go back to the early 1930's but that shiny bolt is not wartime.
