Well, that's amazing, a genuine fabulous 1942 CPH! Where and when did you get it? Never thought I'd see the day etc etc. Honestly, I know there were rumours that production continued into 1942 but until now I have seen no evidence of it. That's fantastic!

The helmet is on ebay, listed tonight, just the shell. I always look to find a 1940 dated one, never expecting to find one dated 1942.

Have seen a couple of the CPH's with labels stuck inside,it seems they were posted out to people in some instances.
Whether with the liners attached, or they were sent separately I'm not sure.
Did Dyson & Horsfall Ltd of Preston who were contractors for the Ministry of Home Security send all CPH's out, again I'm not sure.

Here's a typical example of a CPH, grey painted from factory, but with liner laced in with white string.
It's a Medium size shell for liner sizes 6 1/2,6 3/4 & 7,the shell is dated May 1941 & made by Vauxhal Motors. The liner is dated 1940 so would have been made in December of that year, maker is Failsworth Hats Ltd.

    Default 2/1942 Fire Guard

A 2/1942 dated CPH with FG for Fire Guard to front & rear, taking over from the SFP in August 1941 when they became more affiliated to the NFS.
The liner maker is ??Co Ltd, & might be dated 1942 but is hard to make out. It also states, size No 6 1/2.
Often seen on these helmets is the ajusta pad made chin strap.
BTH is the maker of the helmet, I wonder if there are any CPH's made in 1/42 or even 3/42?
