Help with a Canadian helmet please???

I was hoping some one could give me more information on this helmet? I acquired it with some other items that belonged to a soldier who was some sort of a musician in the war. Can any one tell me if the "M" has something to do with that or if it is something else? Thanks

I think your helmet was for ARP use only, so I suspect the M is for messenger.
