    Question Holes in British Helmet

hey everybody, I bought this helmet that looks like a british helmet, possibly australian with a light greenish-tan coat of paint. There are no markings stamped on the inside of the helmet. It is bare, except for three very interesting holes on the rim of the helmet. I've been looking around for awhile trying to fnd an explanation for these holes. I've heard that they were used to attach a sun visor in North Africa, i've also heard that they were just punched into the steel post-war. Please help me out mates it would be great!

It is a WW2 South African steel helmet.

Yeah......Manufactured by Jager-Rand in Johannesburg. Got the same one. Desert colour. My grandpa gave it to me. He was in El-Alamein, North Africa.
