British Mk4 ("lift the dot" liner ) ..
There should be a date on one of the bands leading to the centre piece of the liner.

    Gary J answer to wxs2005 question:identity of helmet,08.27.2009.
Would the date on liner also be the date of manufacture of helmet shell ? if helmet is undated. Are some Mk4 undated ? all undated, should be all dated ?

I have 5 of these type of helmets, all are dated, but if helmets are not dated but the liner is, this should not be read as written in stone, the liner's were replaced with later versions, so you it's very possible to have a 50's shell with a 70's liner sometimes.
This is the case with a lot of mine!

    Hi,

Sometimes you find with these lids, there is a lot of paint on them, if you scratch about a bit on the inside of the rear of the lid, just below the rim, you should see a makers mark e.g. ROC and a date
maybe 1952, good luck mate..let us know how you get on!

    Cheers

Hi Patrick, welcome to the forum!

However, don't scratch the paint off! This will devalue the helmet and is very bad practise.

    Cheers, Ade.
