Info needed on brodie helmets.

    Default Info needed on brodie helmets.

    How do you tell from what country they are from and what war.
    Here a few that I have that I was not sure about.
    The first one I think is british dated 1943.

    There was so many countries that had them.
    Also post war it is hard to tell.

    last shot is South African WW2 (three holes to rear) original paint khaki for North Africa and repainted OD for either home land or Mediterranean operations

    G'Day Chris,
    There are many variations of the "Brodie" In fact a Brodie is only the name for the WW1 version.WW2 examples are mainly called MkIIs.
    From the pictures you have posted,what i can identify is,
    First picture is a British MkII
    Fourth picture looks like a WW1 Brodie (possibly USA)
    and the Fifth one is South African,as identified by the 3 holes in the Brim.
    Here is a good site that explains the differences somewhat it also has some good pics.

    Well you have one
    I have 2 WW2 ones and took them in my hand luggage from RSA

    I Just look at my black book the helmet was a barn found outside Bayeux Normandy.
