Information about brodie helmet

    I think those with one hole were also issued to the Home Guard and were painted khaki not just black. I have an Irish army issue helmet with one hole each side. While the exterior is painted in the Irish colour scheme the interior and original colour is khaki. I also have a grey coloured Mk2 with the three holes drilled in it.

    For the home guard they would have been painted textured khaki green, I have seen No.2 B's & No.2C's in home guard colours but to date no No.2 A's or No.2 D's.

    Thanks again guys for all this information.

    Considering kozowy's post, I'm inclined to think that my brodie was used by civil defense (and maybe repainted).

    I'm not completely sure, but I think my brodie belongs to the AP batch (I can see the first letter is an "A", but the second seems to be a "P").
