    Default Interesting M-1 Shell

    Hi Guys,

Would like to share my recent M-1 shell purchase, which is unique.

It's a WWII rear seam Schulter piece, with First Lt. Bar painted on.

Looks like a Korean War repainted.

The interesting part is the modifications / replacing of the chin straps. They were made from army HBT materials. One attachment is a late war type, the other side is a scratch built wire hook.

Hi Taka not much of an M-1 Helmet guy I only have a few post war examples in my collection but from what I have read and researched so far IMO you are correct about it being a Korean war refurb on the shell the color looks correct to me .
As to the helmet chinstrap modification who can say for 100% positive when it was done but I am a sucker for field modified items and think it will display rather well and make for a hell of a conversation piece

    Regards Mark
Always on the look out for WW II Canadian Helmets and Cam nets to add to my collection.

Found a Canadian Mk II Medics Helmet and yes I know they are about as rare as hens teeth !!!!!

Totally agree with Mark's comments Taka, that is a really interesting M1 and I would think that the KW era would fit the look of the paint scheme, the chinstraps are really unique which makes this one all the more special

Thank you for the kind comments, Gentlemen.

I personally like Korean War era helmets, so far I have 2 complete sets and one shell.

The shell are all Schulter made (swivel bale), interestingly.

I also have 5 or 6 WWII examples, all fixed bale in my collection.

    Cheers!

the field repaired chin straps dont look like an American repair, I think maybe it was added by another country? possibly by the South Koreans
