obviously its REALLY hard to find parts for M3 flak helmets but SOMEONE has to have some cheek plates (seashell ear flaps), original or repro are fine, straps are a plus but not required and original paint is great but if it is repainted thats fine too. so if anyone has some they are willing to let go of I'd really appreciate it!

I'm just wondering if yours(Golden One) were taken off and not just missing or fell off. Your M3 might have been one used by a pilot/copilot/navigator/bombardier that wanted the protection but still needed to use the headphones. There are M1 helmets that were modified for use. Yours might be a M3 that was modified also.
Just a thought before you look for something that was not needed.

you may be right, i assumed it was done when painted gold for a certain look but the holes were filled looks like possibly were welded up. but if it was used like that, could that be when it was painted? because it is in no way recent paint (sorry the pics were taken with my phone)
